Description

The ‘Rauhnächte’ are over, the gates to the spirit world are closed again, the sun has been reborn deep in the earth. After the wheel of the year stood still for 12 days during these sacred nights, it is now being pushed again by Freyr’s golden-bristled boar. The darkest time is over, the days are getting longer again, the wheel is turning again.

(Even today little marzipan pigs are given to New Year’s Eve, which are said to bring good luck, all going back to Gullinborsti.)
